VICTORIA PHILLIPS

VICTORIA PHILLIPS is a contemporary artist based in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Her work Her paintings, , mostly large-scale, are expressive and energetic. They explore the construction and deconstruction of the human figure through multiple layers and different kind of strokes. Her practice invites the viewer to reconstruct the image and seek harmony within chaos.
Designer, art director, and self-taught artist, attended years of art school and numerous workshops, where she also took part in annual exhibitions. Works primarily with acrylics, oils, and oil pastels, materials that allow her to explore wide-ranging possibilities and develop her own visual language.

The human figure resting or sleeping is a recurring motif in her work: bodies that are physically still while their minds inhabit an alternate, dreamlike, hidden plane—the nebulous space of reverie. In her practice, gesture is essential. Whether using a brush, palette knife, or oil pastel, she builds layers and marks that create movement and depth. Her search is constant—in both ideas and tools—continuously expanding the possibilities of expression.
